Korçë Celebrates its Rich Tradition of Philanthropy at Community Foundation Event

The deep-rooted philanthropic tradition of Korçë was at the heart of a meeting held today by the community foundation “Korçarët Ndihmojmë Korçarët,” established with the support of philanthropist Yvonne Naum, a resident of the United States.
The event was attended by Nertil Jole, the Prefect of the Korçë District, who praised the initiative.
“The charitable contributions of many benefactors from our region continue to shine in Korçë today, embodying the European values instilled in this city by philanthropists from the 15th to the 20th century. The Turtulli family is a prime example, having donated numerous important institutions to Korçë, including a hospital, library, cinema, high school, and orphanage. Other philanthropists such as Anastas Avram-Lekçe, Iljaz Bej Mirahori, and Selim Mborja also left lasting legacies through their significant contributions,” stated Jole.
The Prefect emphasized, “Carrying forward the long-standing philanthropic tradition of Korçë is a spirit we must all embrace and spread as a culture of coexistence, driven by our love for humanity, the city, and our country.”
