Marubi Archive in Shkodër Nominated for UNESCO World Heritage Status

The year 2025 is set to begin with a historic development for Shkodër and its cultural heritage. Luçjan Bedeni, Director of the Marubi Photography Museum, announced that the Marubi Archive has been officially nominated for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
“We are now an official candidate for UNESCO recognition. This will leave an important legacy for Shkodër. We plan to completely revamp both the online and digital archives of the Marubi collection, offering the public an enhanced experience in viewing these remarkable images,” Bedeni stated.
December also saw the opening of a new exhibition at the Marubi Museum, showcasing works by world-renowned American photographer Gregory Crewdson. His captivating pieces blend an autobiographical perspective with a portrayal of an unglamorous America. The exhibition features works from 2012 to 2022.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until March 1 of the coming year at the National Museum of Photography “Marubi.”
