“Mediterranea” – A Visual Symphony of Culture, History, and Innovation

The exhibition “Mediterranea: Visions of an Ancient and Complex Sea” will open its doors tomorrow, inviting the art-loving public of Tirana and all visitors to embark on a journey through the beauty and grandeur of the Mediterranean— the sea that has shaped civilizations for millennia.
Alessandro Ruggera, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana, unveiled the multimedia exhibition on social media, describing it as a rich tapestry of geographical maps, historical documents, satellite imagery, and immersive audio-visual recordings. Together, these elements weave a narrative of the Mediterranean as both a natural marvel and the cradle of modern civilization.
Set within the Contemporary Art Gallery GOCAT, the exhibition is supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and curated by Viviana Panaccia.
“Mediterranea” fuses art, culture, and science, presenting breathtaking imagery captured through state-of-the-art space technology from the Italian and European Space Agencies, along with Telespazio/e-Geos. Ancient maps and artistic masterpieces stand alongside cutting-edge visuals, offering a profound dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation.
