Minister Blendi Gonxhja Unveils Vinyl Tribute for 80th Liberation Anniversary

The Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, announced today the completion of a unique project commemorating the 80th anniversary of Albania’s Liberation.

In a social media post, Gonxhja stated: “The vinyl began spinning uninterruptedly under the vintage gramophone needle, and the music of the partisan brigades started playing… As part of the 80th anniversary of Albania’s Liberation, the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation presents this unique project: ‘Sounds That Brought Freedom,’ a collection of iconic music from Albanian films about the National Liberation War, masterfully performed by the Choir and Orchestra of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, and recorded on vinyl.”

The Minister emphasized that this project serves as a gift to preserve history and pass it on from generation to generation, with melodies that evoke the heroism and unyielding spirit of the Albanian people.

The musical compilation from iconic Albanian films was brought to life by the golden touch of pianist Etrita Ibrahimi, the powerful voices of soprano Renisa Laçka, tenor Gerald Murrja, and baritone Biorn Hoxha, as well as the orchestra and choir of the National Theatre of Opera, Ballet, and Folk Ensemble (TKOBAP), under the baton of Maestro Dritan Lumshi.

The White Voices Choir, directed by Sonila Baboçi, added a special emotional resonance to the concert, making the evening a fitting homage to Albania’s national history.
