Namik Dokle’s Book “Vallëzim me Hënën” Now Available in Spanish

The poetic dance of “Vallëzim me Hënën” by the celebrated writer Namik Dokle has now found a new rhythm in the Spanish language. With the generous support of the National Center for Books and Reading, this literary work has been translated, casting its enchanting light upon Spanish-speaking readers. This translation was made possible through the Literary Translation Fund from Albanian to Foreign Languages, an annual initiative by the Center that celebrates the movement of words across borders and cultures.
Within the pages of this book lies a treasure trove of 52 legends from Gora, the writer’s homeland. Through these stories, the heart of Gora beats anew, breathing life into the cultural and spiritual values of the region, as vivid as the moonlit dances that inspire its title.
As of March 1st, the doors to this year’s Literary Translation Fund have reopened, inviting foreign publishers to share the magic of Albanian authors with the world. The call for applications runs until March 31, 2025, and is a golden opportunity to introduce the rich tapestry of Albanian literature to new corners of the globe.
The National Center for Books and Reading invites all foreign publishers to apply and weave Albania’s literary soul into their own literary scenes, for this is not just the translation of words, but the sharing of a culture, a story, a dance with the moon.
