National Archives Open Exhibition on 20th-Century Himara

The General Directorate of Archives (DPA) opened a new exhibition in Himara to start the summer season. The exhibition features documents and photographs from the 20th century.

DPA partnered with the Municipality of Himara for this event. They placed the exhibition along the town’s promenade. It highlights the Riviera’s beauty and public life in the early 1900s.

Mayor Vangjel Tavo attended the event. Many locals, tourists, and visitors joined as well.

The exhibit includes a 1922 request to create Himara’s municipality. At the time, Himara was part of the Vlora sub-prefecture. Other materials show letters between citizens and the state, requests to rebuild the port dock, and proposals to create a national trade fleet.

The exhibition will stay open until Saturday, May 3.

DPA continues to promote Albania’s documentary heritage as a top priority.
