National Theater of Opera and Ballet to Stage Verdi’s “Aida” with Franco Zeffirelli’s Direction

The National Theater of Opera and Ballet is preparing to present one of the most powerful works in the global opera repertoire, Verdi’s Aida.

The production will be an extravagant rendition by the acclaimed Franco Zeffirelli. According to sources from TKOB, the cast, which will primarily feature Albanian artists, will soon be announced, along with a few international names.

Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece is the story of a forbidden love. Against the backdrop of ancient Egypt, a passionate and illicit love triangle unfolds between the Ethiopian princess Aida, the Egyptian commander Radamès, and Amneris, the Pharaoh’s daughter.

Themes of betrayal, sacrifice, and the conflict between personal emotions and duty heighten the tension until the final note. Verdi’s deeply emotional and passionately intense music is complemented by a breathtaking set and stunning costumes that bring the unique atmosphere of this timeless opera, set in ancient Egypt, to life.

Aida will premiere on February 6.
