National Theater starts the season with the premiere of “Orpheus descends to hell”

The National Theater starts the season with the premiere of “Orpheus descends to hell”, which continues to be held this weekend at ArTurbina. With a selected cast of actors and direction by Nastazja Domaradzka, the drama adapts to the local reality. From the Greek mythology “Orpheus descends into hell” on the stage of the National Theater… The three acts of Tennessee Williams, directed by Nastazja Domaradzka open the season of this theatre, wrapping the drama with the sheath of the reality of local history.
The best names of the local theater scene, break the schemes of the naturalistic theater, helped by the freedom of improvisation. The director, has called into play the concepts of his compatriot, the Pole Grotoëski, and the interpretations transcend the spiritual and physical limits.
The historical background of this work in the National Theater is accompanied by the lack of freedom. In the early 70s, the director Mihallaq Luarasi tried to put it on stage, but the play was stopped during rehearsals.Actors bring it back home these days, with a modern and experimental approach… also as a signal of hope that maybe art can, to escape from hatred and despair.
Power, corruption, crimes, compromises up to deprivation of freedom, intrigue and rumours, in the Theater, where the public experiences in every act, the dilemma of whether love will be able to survive the pressure of this reality. The symbolism of the three ‘Orfs’ accompanies the game, as another attempt to regain freedom.
