The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports held a public consultation for the restoration and musealization project of the National Museum of Independence in Vlora.

The design team and museum experts presented the first architectural and museological concept, along with the new visual identity of the institution, which holds major national importance.

Furthermore, the consultation brought together public institutions, experts, historians and stakeholders to collect recommendations and improve the proposed solutions for the historic building.

The project aims to preserve and promote Albania’s Independence history while strengthening Vlora’s role as a cultural and historical tourism destination.

Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said the project will redesign the museum experience, improve the interpretation of exhibits and introduce digital elements, a new visual identity, branding and museum souvenirs.

Moreover, the new architectural concept includes a modern additional structure with multifunctional spaces for cultural events, educational activities and exhibitions.

Gonxhja emphasized that the project will create a modern museum while preserving the authenticity of the place where the foundations of the Albanian state were established.

After reviewing public suggestions and finalizing the project details, authorities will organize a second public consultation to present the completed design.
