PM Rama: 1.3 Million Visitors to Cultural Heritage Sites and 2,300 Cultural Events in 2024

The year 2024 saw a record number of visitors to Albania’s cultural heritage sites, reaching 1.3 million, a 30% increase compared to 2023.

PM Rama shared on social media today a summary of the major cultural events of 2024, highlighting over 2,300 cultural activities, a rise of more than 25% from the previous year.

One key initiative in this regard was the International Cultural Weeks, which in 2024 saw participation from 21 countries. During these weeks, 250 events were organized, with 360 artists taking part.

Additionally, 2024 marked the completion of several significant cultural infrastructure investments. Thanks to the support of EU4Culture, the restored Puppet Theatre, the Ethnological Museum of Kruja, and the Ethnological Museum of Kavaja were reopened.

Work also continued on the cultural infrastructure of the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Center for Children’s Culture.

As part of the revitalization of cultural heritage, the Art in Public Spaces project was also carried out, featuring works such as Terminal for Tirana, curated by Tirana Art Lab, created by artist Karolina Halatek; The Albanian Key by Alfred Mirash Milot; and Foleza, created by Vasil Dhiamandi and Krisiko Studio.

A series of events were also organized to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Albania’s Liberation.

The year concluded with another positive milestone: the inclusion of ‘K’cimi i Tropojës’ (Dance of Tropoja) in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
