PM Rama: Albania ranks above regional average in transparency

TIRANA, December 16 – Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted that Albania has established a functional and sustainable framework for transparency, as confirmed by the latest assessments from SIGMA (Support for Improvement in Governance and Management), a joint initiative of the OECD and the EU monitoring public administration performance.
Rama attended the VII National Conference on the Right to Information, a joint forum with public authorities, European partners, civil society, and media organizations, reviewing annual achievements and ongoing challenges.
He noted that Albania has strengthened both its strategic and institutional transparency, with SIGMA highlighting the effective functioning of the supervisory authority for the Right to Information.
Rama also referred to the European Center for Anti-Corruption and State-Building’s transparency index, underlining that Albania’s transparency has improved this year and now exceeds the regional average by ten points.
Despite progress, he stressed that public institutions must continue to share administrative information openly, warning that reluctance creates information gaps, fosters suspicion, and undermines public trust.
