PM Rama: British and German embassies back justice, reform irreversible, SPAK continues; EU membership only path

TIRANA, March 13 – Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to statements by the British and German embassies urging that the justice process in Albania proceed without obstruction, stressing that EU integration remains the country’s priority.
Rama said the justice reform is irreversible and the judiciary’s independence remains protected. He added that SPAK continues its work and the fight against corruption is more determined than ever.
He confirmed that Albania has no alternative path to EU membership and highlighted that the embassies’ support aligns with the country’s objectives.
Regarding the parliamentary decision not to lift MP Belinda Balluku’s immunity, Rama noted that the matter does not hinder justice. He emphasized that the Albanian Parliament acted within constitutional and legal norms.
Rama stated that Balluku faces no corruption charges and SPAK can continue the investigation without external interference. He stressed that parliamentary dignity cannot be used for socio-political experiments.
The Prime Minister concluded that Albania continues toward EU membership with no plan B.
