PM Rama: By 2030, Albania will become an energy exporter, 30% of production from renewables

TIRANA, January 12 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that Albania’s energy portfolio has begun diversifying. He added that the goal is for 30% of energy production to come from wind and solar by the end of the decade.

During the presentation of the Tropoja wind park project, Rama explained that achieving this target by 2030 would fully secure a self-sufficient electricity system for the country.

He also noted that any energy produced beyond domestic needs will be exported. In addition, he said Albania will stop spending money abroad to buy electricity. Instead, energy sales will generate more revenue for the economy and Albanian families.

Rama expressed confidence that the period when Albania had to purchase energy from the market is coming to an end. Furthermore, he highlighted that the country will join the small group of nations that enjoy full energy independence.

The Tropoja wind energy park will have a capacity of 600 MW.
