TIRANA, January 22 – President Bajram Begaj authorized Prime Minister Edi Rama to sign the agreement for the Peace Board. The initiative was launched by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The authorization specifies that Begaj’s powers cannot be delegated to any other public authority or body. It also requires the authorities named in the document to exercise their duties according to the law.

It cites Article 92, letter “ë” of the Constitution, and Articles 5 and 6 of Law No. 43/2016 on international agreements in Albania. The document empowers PM Rama to sign the “Acceptance Agreement of the Republic of Albania in the Peace Board Charter.” The Council of Ministers approved the agreement in principle on January 21, 2026.

The authorization reiterates that all rights and duties regarding full powers and representation of Albania cannot be transferred to any other authority or body.
