TIRANA, February 17 – President Bajram Begaj congratulated Kosova on its 18th Independence Anniversary, highlighting the strengthening of institutions and the growth of international recognition.

He stated that Kosova is stronger, with consolidated democratic institutions and more international recognition, and expressed respect and gratitude to those who brought freedom.

Begaj also expressed appreciation to Albania’s and Kosova’s strategic partners for their continuous support of Kosova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He noted gratitude toward the United States and the Western community for their strong support, adding that both countries should move together toward the European Union more united than ever.

On February 17, 2008, the Assembly of Kosova adopted the Declaration of Independence, declaring Kosova an independent, sovereign, and democratic state.
