President Begaj meets Presheva mayor Ardita Sinani

TIRANA, March 12 – President Bajram Begaj met with Presheva Mayor Ardita Sinani to discuss issues affecting ethnic Albanians in the Presheva Valley.
The meeting focused on the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as support for the economic development of Albanians in Presheva, Bujanovc, and Medvegja.
Begaj stated that Albania has been and will remain a voice for Albanians in the region. He said he would continue raising their concerns in international organizations and meetings with partners.
Participants also discussed the issue of address passivization affecting Albanians in Serbia, which can lead to the loss of rights such as voting, healthcare, education, and institutional representation.
Begaj welcomed the inclusion of these concerns in the European Union progress report and noted the acceptance by the European Court of Human Rights of a complaint related to address passivization. He described the step as important for protecting fundamental rights.
The president also referred to efforts by United States lawmakers to raise the issue with the United States Department of State and called for stronger cooperation among Albanian representatives in the Presheva Valley.
