President Osmani: EU lifts all measures against Kosova; PM Rama credits her role

TIRANA, December 18 – Kosova’s President, Vjosa Osmani, announced that the EU lifted all measures against Kosova. The decision followed intensive discussions at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels yesterday.

She said that the government removed a large part of the measures immediately. The remaining measures would be lifted by the end of January.

In a video message on social media, Prime Minister Edi Rama praised Osmani’s role in the process. He said that she had been exceptional that day and had unblocked all funds. He added that the outcome was entirely her merit.

Osmani thanked Prime Minister Rama and Albania for their support.

She said that the removal of the measures would unblock European funds and allow suspended projects to resume. This would directly affect key sectors of Kosova’s economic and institutional development.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said a day earlier that the EU programmed €216 million in financial aid. She added that the EU intended to release €205 million early next year.
