Kosova President Justina Shiroka-Pula has returned amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office to the Assembly for reconsideration.

Earlier today, she received an official request from the Democratic Party of Kosova’s parliamentary group, which sponsored the law. The request sought another review, particularly of provisions on the Specialist Chambers’ jurisdiction and mandate and the protection of the constitutional rights of people standing trial before them.

In explaining her decision, Shiroka-Pula highlighted the sacrifice and contribution of the Kosovo Liberation Army and its leaders in the fight for Kosova’s freedom and independence. She also recalled her support for the Assembly’s declaration of September 28, 2026, concerning the Specialist Chambers’ verdict in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
