Rama Praises Marubi Museum Director for Saving Archive

Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the head of the Socialist Party, praised Luçjan Bedeni today. He said Bedeni saved the “Marubi” archive and protected Shkodër from a national shame.

Rama held a meeting with small businesses in Shkodër. He introduced new economic support plans from the government.

During the meeting, Rama mentioned the recent inclusion of the Marubi archive in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register. He said this decision recognizes it as one of the world’s most valuable cultural heritages.

“A few days ago, the Marubi archive officially became part of the world’s cultural heritage,” said Rama. “Now it’s not just our belief, but a legal and documented fact. Shkodër has made a real contribution to world culture. I’m very proud we managed to save it just in time.”

Rama praised Luçjan Bedeni’s work as museum director.

“The archive was in terrible shape,” Rama said. “It was stuffed in sacks, hidden in corners. A real disaster. Then we built the museum. We secured the archive with labs and proper systems. But none of this would be enough without Luçjan.”

He said Bedeni gave the archive a future.

“Luçjan saw the archive as a part of himself. That deep personal care makes him stand out. I feel lucky to know him. We could fund the museum, but without him, we wouldn’t have succeeded.”

Rama called Bedeni a symbol of cultural pride.

“He saved the archive. He saved Shkodër. He saved Albania.”

Rama also spoke about the new Memory Museum in Shkodër.

“Now Albania will have one not just in Tirana, with the House of Leaves, but here too,” he said. “This museum will show what our people lived through. Not just for tourists, but especially for the younger generation.”
