Rama strongly condemns attack on Azerbaijan: Iran is committing terrorism and must be urgently isolated

Edi Rama strongly condemned the latest attack by Iran on civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan. In an official statement, the Albanian Prime Minister denounced the strike, which injured civilians. Moreover, he urged the international community to fully isolate Tehran and recognize it as a “terrorist state.”

Rama described the attack on Nakhchivan as a serious and unacceptable act by the Iranian regime against neighboring countries. According to him, the only “fault” of these states is their progress and openness to the world.

Furthermore, Rama used strong language against the Iranian government. He argued that the development of neighboring countries makes Iran appear “even darker and blinder under its regime.” In addition, he stressed that when a state violates sovereign borders and targets civilian infrastructure, the line between military aggression and terrorism disappears.

Unwavering solidarity with Baku

At the same time, Rama reaffirmed Albania’s strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. He praised the country’s progress since gaining independence from the Soviet Union. According to him, national pride, resilience, and openness to cooperation have earned Azerbaijan respect on the global stage.

“We stand firmly with Azerbaijan, its strong leadership, and its proud people,” Rama said. He added that Azerbaijani citizens deserve security and freedom from fear.

A broader geopolitical context

Moreover, Rama placed the attack in a wider geopolitical context. He argued that Tehran’s attempts to intimidate civilians aim to destabilize the region and provoke peaceful countries. According to him, these actions also respond to what he called the “fully justified response” of the United States and Israel toward the Iranian regime.

Call for international action

Finally, Rama called for a unified response from states and institutions that defend the international rules-based order. He urged the world not only to distance itself from Tehran but also to isolate the regime in every possible way.

“When civilian infrastructure is targeted and sovereign borders are violated, the line between aggression and terrorism disappears,” Rama said. “Therefore, aggression must be isolated and aggressors must be condemned without hesitation. Those who choose violence must face the growing unity of those who choose peace.”
