Rama to Le Point: We must talk to everyone except terrorists like the mullah regime

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview with the French magazine Le Point, stated that Albania supports the position of the United States on Iran. He emphasized that Tirana has had no diplomatic relations with Tehran since the 2022 cyberattack.

Rama said Albania has unique experience with the Iranian regime, noting that the country hosts around 3,000 members of the Iranian opposition group People’s Mujahidin Organization of Iran.

He stressed that Albania does not fear threats and recalled the country’s tradition of sheltering people in need, including Jews during World War II and Afghans after 2021.

The Albanian prime minister underlined that the country remains firmly committed to its pro-American and pro-European orientation. He added that Albania supports international dialogue but excludes regimes it considers terrorist.

“We must talk to everyone, except terrorists like the mullah regime in Iran,” Rama said.

He also addressed Albania’s European integration, reaffirming the country’s goal of joining the European Union. Rama dismissed allegations of corruption and money laundering in Durrës, calling them unfounded.
