Reviving Tradition: Puppet Theater Returns in a Modern, Interactive Format

The “Heritage Marionettes” project, supported by EU4Culture, funded by the European Union, and implemented by UNOPS, aims to revive forgotten performances of the Puppet Theater in a modern and interactive format.
Melci Qirici, Director of the Puppet Theater and the National Center for Children’s Culture, stated on social media that, in addition to performances, children will participate in educational activities designed to teach them about heritage in an engaging and inspiring manner.
Implemented by Digital Future in partnership with the National Center for Children’s Culture, the project seeks to educate younger generations about Albanian culture and traditions while fostering their creativity.
The “Heritage Marionettes” project is supported through the EU4Culture grant scheme. The Director of the Puppet Theater described it as a unique initiative that brings cultural heritage closer to children and serves as a remarkable example of how art can become the most beautiful bridge between generations.
The first performance to be restored is “The Wrath of the Letters.” In addition to new puppets, the script will also be revised to reflect contemporary contexts.
