Shkodër Students Pay Tribute to National Hero Ndoc Mazi Through Art and Photography

The “House of Martyr Ndoc Mazi,” a work by teacher and painter Simon Rrota, part of the National Gallery of Art’s Collection, was brought to life by students of the “28 Nëntori” school in Shkodër, at the hero’s house.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, shared this portrait on social media today, created by student Xheneta Zefi and photographed by student Gjon Leqejza, both from the “28 Nëntori” high school in Shkodër.
In celebration of the Year of the Albanian Language and as part of the 80th Anniversary of Albania’s Liberation, students from our schools are bringing iconic works of Albanian art to life. These works represent cultural figures and important personalities from our history, as well as key moments from the past, bringing attention back to events and individuals that have influenced Albania’s history and national identity.
For the Year of the Albanian Language, the Ministry of Education and Sports has planned a series of national and global activities, involving all schools across the country as well as in the diaspora.
The activities culminated on November 22nd, National Albanian Alphabet Day, when the draft of the Great Albanian Dictionary was publicly presented.
