Shkodra’s Carnival Parades Bring Tradition and Creativity to Life

The city of Shkodra is currently immersed in its most enchanting season—carnival time. Since yesterday, parades have unfolded, bringing vibrancy to the city and enhancing the atmosphere at Rozafa Castle. Amidst the ancient walls and legendary tales, the youth of the city have unveiled their creativity.

Blendi Gonxhja, the Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, shared images on social media showcasing a city alive with color, tradition, and artistic energy.

“This year, the craftsmanship is being brought to life by the talented students of the ‘Hamdi Bushati’ vocational school, who, with passion and ingenuity, are resurrecting the traditional costumes and masks of the past,” Minister Gonxhja remarked.

He emphasized that the carnival traditions continue to thrive, thanks to the skilled hands of these young artisans.

The Shkodra carnival parades commenced yesterday and will continue until February 23. The festive spirit is already in full swing, with local schoolchildren transforming into a variety of characters, bringing joy and spectacle to the city’s streets. The grand parade, concerts, and artistic performances will fill the city for seven days, preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage and establishing Shkodra as a true hub of celebration.
