TIRANA, March 20 – Assembly of Albania Speaker, Niko Peleshi met Bundestag President Julia Klöckner in Berlin during an official visit to Germany. He focused on parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening bilateral ties. Both sides also discussed support for Albania’s European Union membership.

They praised strong relations marked by intensified political dialogue and continued German support for Albania’s integration process. Peleshi thanked Germany for its key role in advancing reforms. He highlighted progress in justice, democracy, and electoral legislation.

Both sides stressed that German support remains crucial for Albania’s path toward membership. They underlined the need for a merit-based enlargement process and continued deep reforms. They also reviewed active interparliamentary cooperation, including regular visits and exchanges between friendship groups and committees.

They described Germany as one of Albania’s main economic partners, with rising investment and trade in recent years. Peleshi expressed readiness to improve the business climate and attract more German investment in energy, industry, technology, and tourism. They also discussed regional developments and security challenges, stressing Albania’s role in Western Balkans stability. Both sides reaffirmed support for Ukraine and alignment with shared policies of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
