TIRANA, January 16 – At the end of his official visit to Italy, Speaker of the Parliament Niko Peleshi visited the monument of Albania’s national hero, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg. The monument stands in ‘Albania’ Square in Rome.
Peleshi described the tribute as an act of honor and respect. He called Skanderbeg an immortal Albanian leader and a symbol of freedom, identity, and Europeanness.
“Rome and Europe honor him and keep alive the memory of the immortal Albanian leader who fought for freedom and a Western identity,” Peleshi said.
He added, “By bowing with respect before this monument, we also bow to the glorious history of a people who, when tested by time, shone through great examples like that of our Skanderbeg, both Albanian and European.”
Meetings with Italian leaders
During his visit, Peleshi met with the President of the Italian Senate, Ignazio La Russa. They reaffirmed the strong historical and current ties between Albania and Italy. Strengthening strategic partnership
