Spiropali in Vienna for 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali is in Vienna for the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council at the Hofburg Palace. OSCE Chairperson and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen welcomed her.

The Council coincides with Finland’s OSCE Chairmanship and marks the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act, which created the Organization for Security and Cooperation. The Council will focus on European security principles: equality, territorial integrity, peaceful dispute resolution, and respect for human rights.

Discussions will highlight Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, which violates these principles. The Council will also address OSCE preparations for future challenges, a key priority for Finland. Minister Spiropali will stress Albania’s commitment to peace, stability, and regional security.

On the sidelines, Spiropali will meet Brendan Hanrahan, Senior U.S. State Department Official for European Affairs, to strengthen Albania-U.S. strategic cooperation. She will also join the Foreign Ministers’ roundtable of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” initiative, invited by Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.

The roundtable will include European Commission Vice President and EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos. Spiropali will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from Romania, Armenia, and Georgia, as well as senior OSCE officials.
