Tinka Kurti and Edmond Topi Honored at ‘Coliseum’ International Film Festival

Albanian filmmakers were highly praised at the “Coliseum” International Film Festival, a major cinematic event focusing on independent productions. The fourth edition of the festival took place in Rome.
The “Best Director” award was given to Edmond Topi for the film “Yjet e së ardhmes” (The Stars of the Future), while the “Best Lead Actress” award went to Tinka Kurti.
The professional jury, led by producer Roberto Bessi, along with the votes of 7,000 viewers, including 1,500 foreigners and 5,500 Italians, evaluated contributions from films across 81 countries worldwide. “Yjet e së ardhmes” was selected as one of the five finalists in the foreign film category, competing alongside productions from Venezuela, the United States, Mexico, and Bulgaria.
Tinka Kurti’s Cinematic Icon Award was presented by filmmaker Mirela Oktrova, who expressed her deep emotion and honor for two special reasons.
“I feel very honored to be here today to accept this award on behalf of Tinka, which is tied to two beautiful coincidences: First, because Tinka began her career under my father’s direction. Second, because Tinka has just celebrated her 92nd birthday, and this award is a beautiful gift for her,” Oktrova said.
