Tourism Projects in Shkodër: Municipality Focuses on Infrastructure and Revitalization

Shkodër, one of Albania’s most prominent tourist destinations, saw a prosperous year in 2024, with over 500,000 visitors exploring its attractions.
In an interview with Albanian Radio and Television (RTSH), Shkodër Deputy Mayor, Rudin Beka highlighted key infrastructure projects aimed at further boosting tourism in 2025.
“There are several significant initiatives, including the railway connection with Gjakova that will extend to Shkodër. Shëngjin–Velipojë road, set to open this year, and improvements to the Dukagjin route. The Albanian Alps play a vital role in both alpine and seasonal tourism, and we are also investing in lake tourism, particularly in Shiroka,” Beka explained.
The municipality is also prioritizing the restoration and revitalization of Shkodër’s historical and cultural landmarks in the coming year.
“We are carrying out restoration work on Drisht Castle and Rozafa [Shkodër] Castle, launching the Navigation Museum, and opening the Heritage and Memory Museum. These projects are part of a broader effort to improve tourism infrastructure and enhance service quality, benefiting both locals and international visitors,” Beka stated.
With its diverse combination of nature, eco-tourism, and cultural heritage, Shkodër remains one of Albania’s key tourism hubs.
