Tribute to Puccini: “Vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore” Event Held at COD

Last night, the event “Vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore” took place at COD, inspired by the famous aria of renowned Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. This special gathering, held for the first time at the Prime Minister’s office, marked the beginning of celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death, a milestone that theaters around the world are dedicating to the composer throughout 2024.
In line with global commemorations, Tirana also hosted a series of concerts and staged performances of Puccini’s works. The closing event at COD featured some of his most celebrated pieces, including vocal-piano romances, piano works (premiere), the Suor Angelica aria for oboe-piano, and excerpts from Tosca for four hands on piano.
Prominent figures from the Albanian music scene, such as composer Zef Çoba, soprano Shqipe Zani, musicologist Holta Sina Kilica, and soprano Eriona Gjyzeli, were present. In addition to the performances, the evening included an analysis of Puccini’s life and legacy, emphasizing the significance of his works in the history of music and their lasting influence on the art of opera.
