Tuzi Celebrates Albania’s 112th Independence Anniversary with Skanderbeg Monument

On the occasion of the 112th anniversary of Albania’s Independence, a monument honoring our national hero, Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg, was inaugurated today in the Municipality of Tuzi, Montenegro.

The unveiling ceremony of the statue in Tuzi was attended by numerous dignitaries. During the event, Ivan Ivanaj, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, remarked that the inauguration of the monument was purposefully scheduled for a significant and historic day for Albania and the Albanian people.

“On the most sacred day of the Albanian nation, we have gathered to inaugurate the monument of our national hero Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg, the symbol of resistance, unity, and national identity. This monument to Skanderbeg is not merely an artistic work cast in bronze but a perpetual reminder of the values represented by our great hero—values we must nurture and keep alive.

The journey to this moment was not easy. This much-anticipated project, often contested, faced numerous obstacles and challenges. Yet we knew this endeavor was just, a necessary tribute to a figure embodying our national freedom and pride. Today, more than ever, we affirm that when we Albanians unite, anything is possible,” Ivanaj stated.

He also emphasized that the Albanian Forum and the Albanian diaspora played a crucial role in accomplishing this mission, adding that the monument stands as a symbol of unity.
