“‘Vajzë Festë 2024,’ Begaj: An initiative is being launched to promote the preservation of traditions

President Bajram Begaj attended the historic, cultural, and artistic festival “Vajzë Festë 2024” in the village of Vajzë, Vlorë.

During his visit, the President was welcomed by local residents and participants in the event, which has been organized for two years and has gained national significance.

President Begaj paid tribute to Ali Asllani, a prominent figure in Albanian politics and literature and a native of Vajzë, by placing flowers at his statue, erected by the village residents. He also placed bouquets at the monument dedicated to the martyrs of the Vlora War and World War II, as well as at the bust of People’s Hero Perlat Rexhepi.

The President visited the newly established Cultural Center, an agrotourism enterprise, and the Amantia Archaeological Park.

In his speech at “Vajzë Fest,” President Begaj emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting the development of Albanian villages, preserving traditions, and attracting international visitors to highlight Albania’s historical and cultural heritage.

“Vajzë is more than just a name on the map. It is the birthplace of Ali Asllani, the renowned poet of this region. His poetry reflects the spirit of Labëria, and his work captivates with its powerful expression. It is a great honor to walk the same paths that inspired his creations,” said Begaj.

The President also highlighted that the second edition of Vajzë Fest demonstrates the enduring love for one’s roots.

“Through art and culture, we can revive the hearts of our communities. Revitalizing villages through these means is not merely an aesthetic initiative, but an act of dedication and love for one’s homeland. This festival serves as a bridge connecting the past with the future, where tradition and modernity come together to create a new reality filled with opportunities and hope,” added Begaj.
