Venetian Masks Made in Albania Featured in The Guardian

Venetian masks crafted in Albania have been featured in an article by The Guardian.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared the article on social media, drawing attention to the artisanal production of Venetian masks in Shkodër.
“The Venetian masks made in Albania have been highlighted in The Guardian, which recognizes Shkodër as a city that not only celebrates the Carnival tradition every March 20–22 but has also become a leading supplier since 1996, producing over 20,000 handmade masks annually,” Rama wrote.
These exquisite Venetian masks are produced in a workshop in Shkodër, where skilled artists hand-paint and decorate tens of thousands of masks, sought after by festivalgoers worldwide during the Carnival season.
The workshop also features an exhibition hall where visitors can admire luxurious designs embellished with gold leaf, silver accents, feathers, Swarovski crystals, and pearls. This exhibition has become a must-visit attraction for international tourists exploring Shkodër, often dubbed “Albania’s Venice,” renowned for its stunning lake and historic castle.
