World Voice Day Highlights Importance of Proper Voice Usage

Today is World Voice Day, a time to highlight the importance of the human voice in school, work, and social interactions. Many people abuse their voices by smoking, shouting, drinking alcohol, or neglecting proper speaking techniques. When issues arise, treatment is often ignored, leading to more severe problems.
World Voice Day was created to raise awareness, recognize, and celebrate the human voice. It was established on April 16 by Brazilian voice care professionals in 1999, marking the first Brazilian Voice Day. Since then, it has become a global observance, supported by the Speech Disorders Academy Committee.
The day aims to educate the public about the importance of vocal health and the need for preventive care. This year’s theme is “Empower your voice.”
