Funding Mechanisms for Arts and Culture: MEKI Partners with UNAA

Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MEKI) has launched a partnership with the United Nations Association Albania (UNAA) to enhance and develop financial support mechanisms and policies for the arts and culture sector.
This collaboration follows the presentation of a study conducted by UNAA and supported by ArtNexus, titled “Support Mechanisms and Financial Resources for Visual Arts in Albania.” The study highlighted the challenges faced by visual artists in Albania and underscored the need for ongoing dialogue between public institutions and the artistic community.
The partnership aims to improve the allocation of financial support across various cultural fields, including visual arts, performing arts, festivals, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage.
Special focus will be placed on supporting young Albanian artists, expanding the national cultural calendar, fostering creativity, developing artistic residencies, enhancing national representation and cultural diplomacy, and promoting artistic mobility. New programs will also be introduced to support the independent art scene.
The initiative will involve public meetings and consultations with stakeholders from the arts and culture sector and other relevant institutions.
This fall, the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation will host a series of meetings and consultations titled “Voices of Culture: Artists Speak, Institutions Listen.” Further details will be announced in due course.
