Kosova’s PM Kurti reaffirms NATO membership as Kosova’s strategic priority

Kosova’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reaffirmed that NATO membership remains a strategic priority for regional peace and security. He made the statement on Thursday during a meeting with an 11-member delegation from the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, representing 9 countries.

According to Kurti’s office, discussions covered cooperation with the alliance, democratic development, economic progress and the security situation in Kosova and the region. They also addressed efforts to strengthen the Kosovo Security Force and improve military training in line with NATO policies and standards.

The delegation visited Kosova on October 28 and 29. A day earlier, Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu received its members, led by NATO Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Alberto Losacco and Political Committee Chair Sverre Myrli.

Haxhiu highlighted NATO’s 1999 intervention in Kosova, describing it as decisive in ending the war, massacres and ethnic cleansing carried out by Serbia’s regime. The meeting also addressed regional security, the Banjska attack, hybrid threats and disinformation.
