Koçiu: Albania Is More Than the Anger on Our Screens — It Is Also the Work We Don’t See

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu has praised public administration employees and frontline service workers for continuing to serve citizens amid heightened tensions.

In a video message, Koçiu highlighted the daily work of doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, police officers, firefighters, emergency teams and municipal workers who clean and maintain cities. She also praised those who repair damage caused by unrest and help restore public spaces.

“Amid the noise of recent days, today I want to talk about the people who do not make noise. They are the ones who go to work every morning and continue serving citizens,” Koçiu said.

She also recognized public administration employees working behind the scenes on reforms and projects, particularly young professionals and Albania’s team negotiating EU membership. Their work may not always make headlines, she said, but it remains essential to the functioning of the state.

“Protesting is a right, criticizing is a right, and thinking differently is a right. But no one should feel threatened or insulted for doing their job honestly and taking pride in it,” Koçiu said.

“Albania is not only the anger we see on our screens. It is also the work we don’t see. It is responsibility, dedication and service,” she added.

Koçiu thanked public employees for continuing their work despite attacks, public shaming and insults. She stressed that their professionalism, patience and contribution deserve greater recognition.
