PM Rama renews call for dialogue as chairs return outside Prime Minister’s Office

Prime Minister Edi Rama has renewed his call for dialogue with protesters. He has once again placed chairs outside the Prime Minister’s Office. Signs invite citizens and social groups to discuss their concerns and demands. In a video posted on social media, Rama acknowledged that citizens have many reasons to protest. However, he said none could justify violence. He added that every grievance provided another reason for dialogue.
The prime minister called for dialogue among people who share the same homeland and the goal of improving Albania, despite their different political views. Referring to recent events, Rama stressed that the right to protest was undeniable. He added that violence remained a criminal offence punishable by law. He said dialogue had faced a violent response the previous day but had returned.
Meanwhile, Rama said he remained open to everyone who disagreed with the government. He stressed that improving living conditions and solving problems required work and investment. He called for public revenue to go where needs were greatest. He also urged citizens to distance themselves from violence and warned that anyone involved in violent acts would face legal and financial consequences. Those who damaged public property or other people’s assets would have to pay, he said.
Rama concluded that everyone had a place in Albania. However, he stressed that no one’s freedom could infringe on the freedom of others or undermine peaceful democratic coexistence.
